Cleaning Strategy For Various Marble Surfaces

Marble is natural stone and it is a beautiful one. This is why men, over the years, have installed marble to decorate their house and give it a touch of class. In fact, there are thousands of different applications of marbles when it comes to the home decoration. Apart from the versatility, marble is also famous for the durability that it has. However, there are certain things that you have to take care of when you install marble in the house.

When you install marble, make sure you have certain accessories to protect it. Coasters are certainly one of them. You have to place them under each and every glass that will carry a drink. The juices carrying acids and alcohol are specifically harmful to the marble. So, you should ensure that they don’t get in touch with the marble.

Other products on which you have to spend some bucks are the mat and rug. You have to place them at the entrances to take away the dusts from the visitors’ shoes before they step in on your marble floor. However, these rugs should grip well to the marble. Also, mats should be placed under the hot products so that they could not touch the stone surface directly.

When you are cleaning up the floors, you should ensure that you dust and mop them regularly. The worn vacuums are a strict no-no for the marble cleaning. Rather, you can use the rag mop.

For other surfaces, there are the cleaners available. You should take a soft cloth and clean the stone with the specialized cleaners. The stone soaps and mild detergents can also be used. However, make sure that you are not getting too enthusiastic to use them. For, a frequent use of them will result in a coat that will eventually mar the brilliance of the stone. Never use lemon, vinegar or any acidic elements to clean them. The soft or dry cleansers should be avoided too. For, they have abrasives that leave scratches.

Many people experience that the marble in their baths lose shine very quickly. This is largely because of the soap scum. There are the soap scum removers that do not contain any acid. You can also add half cup of ammonia to one gallon of water and use it. Again, excessive use of the solution would have adverse effects.

When you are dealing with the marbles at the vanity tops, you should take preparation right at the time of installation. For, you need a penetrating sealer to protect them. There are different waxes applicable in this respect. However, the best way is to contact the installer. The problem with the kitchen marbles is the same and demands similar solution. However, you must ensure that the sealers are not toxic. So, you need to check out the manufacturer of the sealers.

Moss and algae are the main problem for the outdoor marble furniture, especially the outdoor pools, hot tubs etc. A mild solution of bleach is effective keep the surface free from them.
